The G:KND Experiment, commonly referred to as "Galactic Kids Next Door" (abbreviated "GKND") and "Stop the GKND" is a series of videos, images, and cryptic posts created in 2012-2016 by Tom Warburton and several other KND crew and cast members, used to greenlight a potential movie and/or series of the same name serving as a sequel to Warburton's predecessor series Codename: Kids Next Door. While unsuccessful, the experiment has spawned a massive cult following including fanart, fanfics and videos, as well as numerous subsequent attempts to greenlight the series.

History[]

On March 19th, 2015, a video was posted of what appears to be an animatic of a new series featuring Numbuh 1 and the Galactic KND via here. It was later revealed to be a stunt to try and get the series greenlighted with help from fans.

On April 1st, a petition was started to make G:KND a real series. Since its formation, it has been rapidly growing, gaining thousands of supporters. The petition recently hit its target amount of 50,000 supporters.

On April 2nd, a fan-made Facebook page was created to advertise the sequel or spin-off possibility was made.

In June 19th, 2015, Tom Warbuton announced that Cartoon Network has seen the pitch, but doesn't have any current plans to continue the Kids Next Door franchise and has rejected the GKND series idea.

GKND was also originally conceived as an idea for a movie, with the potential of a spin-off series.[1]

Fans have attributed the rejection of the show to various reasons, particularly Cartoon Network's then-present larger focus on comedy-based shows rather than action-based, a larger appeal toward younger audiences, the pilot having swear words (Kuki says "Holy f**k!" in the pilot, even though it is censored), and that Cartoon Network already had two reboots of classic shows in the works at the time - being for Ben 10 and The Powerpuff Girls - both of which had received mixed to negative receptions upon release mostly due to said focus on comedy drastically changing those reboots, which were of action shows not made for comedy.

However, Warburton has repeatedly expressed confidence that he'll try to get the series greenlighted again in the future. There are currently various efforts to get the series greenlit.

Certain fans have also suggested that the show be instead pitched to Cartoon Network's sister channel, Adult Swim, so Warburton could produce the show the way he wants to rather than change it to appeal to Cartoon Network's new audience guidelines, but also due to the fact that Adult Swim also allowed more action shows to air on it, most notably the fifth and final season of Samurai Jack.

On May 9th, 2018, a new petition was created following the lock of the first one with the hopes of garnering even more support.

On February 9, 2023, Cartoon Network's social media posted a clip from the end of Operation: I.N.T.E.R.V.I.E.W.S. with a Galactic Kids Next Door hashtag.[2][3] On March 2, 2023, Warburton posted a new tweet saying "Recommission everyone" with the hashtag "gknd".[4] On April 22, 2023, Cartoon Network posted fan art by TKGgagagasyu of Galactic Kids Next Door.[5][6]

On June 6, 2024, Warburton announced that he was making an appearance at the Short Short Fest, an indie animation festival, later that year in August.[7] From August 3rd to 9th, the teaser was shown in all of its entirety at the festival in Marty Magee’s in Prospect Park, PA, and The Capri Drive-In in Coldwater, MI. Story Board Trailer (LEAKED)[]

Stop the g KND

Taking place after the series finale, the trailer begins with Numbuh 1's brief narration of Earth: a G-class planet that has unfortunately become infested with adults. As a result, he is presented with a booger-activated console that would presumably authorize an invasion or activate a weapon that would subsequently cause the destruction of Earth. He almost plunges a booger into the console when Chad, chained up, appears and begs him not to do it, reminding Numbuh 1 that his family and friends are still on that planet, and stating that this is not what the KND stands for.

Other operatives from other planets scan in to criticize Nigel, pointing out that a human Galactic-level KND operative has never existed, alluding that humans have never been considered worthy. Only one voice steps in to defend Nigel, revealed to be Numbuh 74.239; a tree-like alien kid who had apparently been masquerading as a human all along. Numbuh 74.239 begins to state that there was a famous human operative once, but then stops mid-sentence to adjust the privacy settings, and then his human disguise starts acting up.

More voices chip in to argue until a booming, multi-layered voice comes up, stating that only Nigel can make that decision. Shedding a tear, Nigel salutes and declares, "Galactic Kids Next Door rule!", before ramming his booger into the console.

The screen blacks out, and the dismayed voice of Numbuh 5 is heard saying "Nigel Uno...what have you done?" (See below for speculation concerning the identity of the voice)

At the end, the following message is translated from some alien writing:

Stop the gknd

This leaked trailer was later removed from YouTube, but is part of the Stop the G:KND video as mentioned below.

However, it was reanimated by a user named Ratanimator, a fan of the series, who vowed to help animate the show if it ever got greenlit.

Several other fans have made potential logos for the series. One fan, named Boodle2003 or NCTSBoodle, designed what he believes is a more official logo for the series, hoping Warburton uses it in a future pitch and eventually the final show.

Hello?[]

Hello?

On March 30, 2015, a second, 9 second long video was posted on the Numbuh Vine YouTube page, titled "Hello?"

It shows a distorted video of Numbuh 4 trying to contact Numbuh Vine.

On March 31, a 6 minute and 29 second long video was also posted on the Numbuh Vine YouTube page, titled "Stop the g:KND". It was also uploaded to the warburtonlabs YouTube page.

It shows Numbuhs 3 and 4 establishing contact with Numbuh Vine, saying that they uploaded the original animatic video. Numbuh Vine then chastises them, saying that it wasn't supposed to be uploaded until after the countdown. Numbuh Vine is then shown to be Lizzie Devine, and it's revealed that she was using a human disguise on Earth, much to Numbuh's 4 and 3's shock (with Numbuh 3 saying "Holy f**k").

Lizzie then tells them to evacuate the planet, but is then attacked by unseen operatives.

The transmission is ended with alien characters that translate to: Transmission Interrupted

The first video is then shown, followed by Numbuh 4 saying that there are currently no plans for a Galactic Kids Next Door series, though he would enjoy there being one to fight space monsters and settle his score with the Toiletnator, implying that the stunt was to try and get the idea greenlighted.

An updated version of the video was uploaded in February 2021 on Mr. Warburton's personal YouTube page, albeit unlisted and under the title "stop the gknd 2021". This version only has the first video plus Numbuh 4's dialogue.

The video description is

Call to Action[]

At the end of the third video, Numbuh 4 states that there are currently no plans, but then goes on to say that there should be, implying a strong desire to see it happen.

April 1st, a petition was started to make G:KND a real series. Since it's formation, it has been rapidly growing, gaining thousands of supporters.

April 2nd, a fan-made Facebook page to advertise the G:KND spin-off possibility was made.

April 2nd, Mr. Warburton added a blog post congratulating everyone who responded, stating it was never a prank, and encouraging everyone to tell everyone about Galactic Kids Next Door, further implying that Mr. Warburton is wanting news of the stunt to spread in order to create the new series.

Warburton's Support[]

On April 3rd, Tom Warburton shared the petition on his Facebook page, Tumblr, and Twitter, showing further proof that he wishes the G:KND spin-off to become a reality. As of the time of the petition's closure, 20,000 people have signed it, including Dee Bradley Baker (the voice of Numbuh 4).

Following the denial of the original pitch, several more petitions to greenlight the GKND have been opened, one of which had over 68,000 supporters, but it is unknown if they are official or not.

Numbuh Vine Posts Again[]

NUMBUHVINEPOSTEDAGAIN

April 22, Numbuh Vine posted another image hinting at the G:KND, stating that this could be our last Earth Day if the GKND is not stopped.

Warburton's Sketchbook[]

May 7th, Mr. Warburton put up some of his sketches in his blog post "Mommy...where do sketchbooks go when they die?" which had some images that, when more closely inspected, were images of Numbuh Vine and had notes such as production dates and script reading dates.
