Summary[]
Numbuh 1 battles a group of snake ties with an adult against them.
Plot[]
Numbuh 1's morning starts off really bad as he is attacked by a snake-like creature, whose shadow curiously resembles a tie. It's revealed, when he falls downstairs, that the thing was a tie and is now forced to wear it as part of his School's new dress code. Mrs. Uno says its looks handsome on Nigel and kicks him out of the house to go to School. Outside, he subsequently meets Vin Moosk, a famous tie hunter who is able to remove his tie. At first, Nigel doesn't trust Moosk due to his status as an adult. However, Moosk explains to Numbuh 1 that he needs his help in destroying ties with his organization's 2x4 Technology, and gives him a map to Tieland.
At the campsite, Nigel meets Moosk as well as his two comrades; Froggy McDougal (a weird fellow with a vendetta against tie's) and Windsor (a kid in army fatigues). The group then storms the Tieland Shopping Mall, a place that used to sell business wear before it disappeared into a vast parking lot, now serving as a nest for the tie's.
Inside the temple, Moosk saves Numbuh 1 from a polyester tie and Numbuh 1 wonders why Moosk does not likes tie's despite the fact that he is an adult. Moosk reveals that he was once an accountant but one day he realized he hated the job and ties. When Moosk refused to wear any more tie's, his boss attempted to force the tie's onto Moosk and had them attack him. However, Moosk proved to be too strong and was able to escape from the office where he worked. Moosk would later team up with Froggy and Windsor to fight ties. Soon, the loud noises made by Moosk awaken the Queen Tie. Froggy fails to notice that she is behind him and is hit with her breath, transforming him into an accountant.
Moosk, Nigel, and Windsor flee and reach the room where the eggs of the baby ties are located. Moosk sets up the spray starch bombs but is unable to find the detonator. Windsor reveals to have the detonator but is then hit with the Queen Tie's breath. However, Windsor remains unaffected and betrays Moosk and Nigel. Windsor then reveals his true self, that he has has been wearing a tie the whole time and is the son of Moosk's old boss. Since his father's business began failing after Moosk left, Windsor joined Moosk with the intention to make him come back to work. Windsor had been waiting forever for Moosk to slip up, but since regular tie's would not work on Moosk, he brought him to the Queen who could make him wear a tie whether he wants to or not.
When Windsor offers Moosk and Numbuh 1 a choice, to either willingly accept a tie or face the Queen Tie's breath, Moosk pretends to surrender. Moosk then uses spray starch guns that he was hiding to attack the Queen Tie while Numbuh 1 attacks Windsor. Using the guns, Moosk triggers the detonator, setting off the spray starch bombs and destroying the eggs. Just as the duo are escaping, an enraged Windsor sends the Queen Tie after them. Numbuh 1 calls Numbuh 2 and Numbuh 4 to rescue him, but their escape is prevented the the Queen Tie who uses her tail to hold the ship down and is about to hit it with her breath. Moosk then sacrifices himself by jumping onto the Queen Tie's mouth, clamping it shut and preventing the her from releasing her breath which causes her to explode and in turn kills the ties that were part of the Schools' new dress code.
Later, Moosk is revealed to have survived and has been reverted back into an accountant. When Moosk receives a package containing a can of spray starch from Numbuh 1, it reawakens his rebellious tie-hunting personality which prompts him to start wrecking his work place.

Transcript[]
Operation: K.N.O.T./Transcript
Trivia[]
- This episode takes place on a Tuesday as Moosk says to Nigel, in reference to Nigel having to wear ties every day to school, "while Moosk may have gotten rid of your tie today, Tomorrow there will be a new One waiting for you, and the day after that, and the day after that, but Not the day after that, for that is the Saturday, and then is the Sunday, where you may have to...." (trails off before Numbuh 1 cuts him off)
- We see Numbuh 1's bedroom for the first time. He has a Yipper poster above his bed and a picture of Lizzie taped to his wall.
- Despite appearing, Numbuh 2 has no dialogue in this episode.
- There are heavy implications of this episode promoting communism, including Moosk having a Russian accent while calling the others "comrades", Windsor dressing like Che Guevara before revealing his real identity, and the monstrous role of ties with the mistreatment of Moosk by Windsor's father implying the idea of a very anti-business attitude.
- The 2 female members of Sector V (Numbuhs 3 and 5) don't appear in this episode.
- Moosk was roasting a tie on stick over a camp fire, but it's never revealed if he intended to eat it or just burn it for entertainment.
Series continuity[]
- We finally see Mrs. Uno for the first time (having heard her voice early on in Operation: C.A.N.N.O.N.). However, we still don't see her face.
- The episode clearly shows that ties are evil. However, in episodes where Numbuh 2 is a detective (P.I.N.K.E.Y.E., C.L.U.E.S., etc.) he wears a tie.
- The Queen Tie does not return until the series finale, Operation: I.N.T.E.R.V.I.E.W.S..
- This is Vin Moosk's only appearance in the TV-series. He later returns in the comic, Operation: S.L.I.T.H.E.R..
Cultural references[]
- Froggy McDougal is a parody of the Lord of the Rings character Gollum. Also, the storming of Tieland resembles the storming of various castles and dungeons in the LOTR movies.
- Tieland is a play on the South-East Asian country, "Thailand".
- The Queen Tie is a parody of the Xenomorph Queen from Aliens (1986).
- This episode may be a reference to the Captain Underpants series, in which George‘s mom makes him wear a tie to school.
- Moosk is a parody (or a tribute) of Minsc from the Baldur's Gate series. His accent, name, and even looks (a tattooed circle on a bald head, or a tie on a bald head) are very similar to Minsc. Also, he even shouts out a battle cry like his from the game (with ties getting their butts kicked instead of "evil").
- Windsor resembles Sam Trautman from the Rambo series of films, and is also the name of a knot, which was a foreshadowing of his later betrayal.
- The Tieland Commons Shopping Mall is made to resemble a Mayan temple.
Goofs[]
- Jennifer Hale is not credited for her voice as Mrs. Uno in this episode.
- When Numbuh 1 is first sent out by his mom, there is no bush next to the house. But in the next scene, a bush has appeared next to the door with Moosk inside.
- Numbuh 1's bag disappears from the camp after he grabs his own weapon.
- Numbuh 1 brought another identical gun to the one that Froggy grabbed, but it's never seen outside of the bag.
- When Moosk throws the desk out through the window, we can clearly see two more windows above him. But in the next shot, his window was on the second to top floor.
- When the Queen Tie is about to attack Froggy, Moosk's weapon has disappeared.
- In Windsor's flashback, Moosk jumps out of a window 3 stories lower than earlier.
- When Moosk pretends to give up, Windsor is no longer holding the tie or the remote.
- Numbuh 1 was standing right next to Moose just when he pulled his two starch pistols out from his back, but Numbuh 1 is missing from the shot of Moosk shooting at the Queen Tie.
- When Numbuh 1 and Moosk exit the Tie Mall, they are for some reason drawn with a neon yellow outline.
- Moosk's package was addressed to the 12th floor, but the building is far too short to have 12 floors. At most it could have 9 or 10.
