Numbuh 42 is a member of Sector X. He's a very nerdy operative who seems to be more interested in Yipper cards and watching sci-fi films than caring for his teammates or anything else. He is a friend of Numbuh 2 and his provider of trading cards. Since Sector X has few missions, he has a lot of free time to collect cards to trade with his friend.
Appearances[]
His first major appearance is in Operation: U.N.C.O.O.L., where he steals a Yipper card from a group of nerds, causing them to turn into Nerd Zombies, kidnapped his teammates Numbuh 34 and Numbuh 78, invaded the Sector X Treehouse, and kidnapped almost every member of Sector V except for Numbuh 2, before he finally agreed to give the card back. The Nerds turn back into humans after it is returned; they also require another card to trade for the others, which he is heavily implied to have stolen from a Nerd Werewolf.
He had previously appeared in Operation: G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E.S. , although he does not speak. He was one of the few operatives who managed to escape from the Animalization Ray, and assisted Numbuh 202 and a KND Scientist with modifying the Age-O-Tonic Birthday Suits for their attempted counter attack. Strangely, he does not speak or appear on Numbuh 362's ship despite having a planned speaking role.
He also made a cameo in Operation: Z.E.R.O. at the end, attacking the adults along with his teammates from Sector X and the Decommissioning Squad.
He made another major appearance in Operation: A.M.I.S.H. at the 2x4 Technology Convention, where he invented a fast-growing treehouse seed. He later appears in a Splinter Cell, telling Numbuh 2 and Numbuh Rebecca to join him and the scientists to watch the science-fiction TV show marathon of Doctor Time Space and the Continuums.
Lastly, in Operation: T.R.E.A.T.Y., he showed up along with Numbuh 78 for Numbuh 362's announcement, as well as helping fight the Teen Ninjas on the Gihugeacarrier after they turned on them. Numbuh 42 was also caught in one of the many ice cream explosions caused by Numbuh 48 flavors.
Trivia[]
- Considering his nerdy personality and fascination with science fiction, Numbuh 42's codename is most likely a reference to the legendary science-fiction comedy book series The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, in which the ultimate answer to life, the universe, and everything is said to be the number 42; this is likely a nod to Numbuh 42's rather nerdy nature.
- Numbuh 42 typically carries a mallet in his hand during cameo appearances, a remnant of his cut-down role in Operation: G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E.S..
