The Licorice Pirates are the undead crew of Captain Black John Licorice, who sail aboard the Root Canal
History[]
The Licorice Pirates were regular candy pirates under the leadership of Captain Black John, sailing the seven suburbs many years ago. Their cabin boy at the time was "Stickyfuzz" (who went on to become Stickybeard).
After their cabin boy left, they ventured off the coast of North Dakota and discovered Red Stalk Isle. Not wishing to share the red licorice with anyone outside his crew, Black John had the licorice stalks cut down and taken off the island. The licorice turned rancid and black not long after, along with the bones of the pirates. Undead, they could no longer stand in the sun, for they would collapse into bones and rags. They seeked out Madame Zin, who told them to return to the island and plant the Red Stalk Seed in order to break the curse.
They sailed back to the island, but before they could do the deed, the sun rose up and they collapsed on the spot. Coincidentally, Stickybeard with his new cabin boy Heinrich found the island the same day, and Heinrich took the seed from Black John's hand. As soon as the sun set, the Licorice Pirates sailed after the Sweet Revenge to retake their seed, but did not succeed.
Years later, they found Heinrich at the KND Arctic Prison, where they kidnapped him back to the island. After learning the boy recently ate the seed, they decided to plant him into the ground and grow the red stalk from his insides. Their plan was thwarted by Stickybeard and Numbuh 5, who saved Heinrich and left the cursed crew on the island (Operation: L.I.C.O.R.I.C.E.).

- They are a parody of the Black Pearl pirates from the first movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series.
